The Story Behind the Joke
In the heart of the African savannah, there was a curious little bird named Benny. Benny loved to ask questions, and one day, he had a particularly puzzling one. He flew over to his friend, Hilda the Hippo, who was lounging by the waterhole and asked, “Hilda, what’s the difference between a hippo and a zippo?”
Hilda chuckled, her big belly shaking with laughter. “Well, Benny,” she began, “I’m a hippo. I love to swim in the water, roll in the mud, and eat delicious grass. I’m big, heavy, and have thick skin to protect me.”
Benny nodded, “I know all that, Hilda. But what on earth is a zippo?”
Just then, Zack the Zebra trotted over, overhearing their conversation. “A zippo isn’t an animal, Benny,” Zack explained with a grin. “It’s a small metal object that humans use to make fire.”
Benny looked puzzled. “Fire? Why would they need to make fire?”
Zack shrugged, “Humans are strange creatures. They use fire to cook their food, keep warm, and sometimes just to watch the flames dance.”
Hilda added, “So, to answer your question, Benny, the main difference is: I’m a big, heavy animal that loves water, and a zippo is a tiny thing that makes fire.”
Benny thought for a moment and then burst out laughing. “So, one is heavy, and the other is a little lighter!”
Hilda and Zack joined in the laughter, appreciating Benny’s clever joke.
From that day on, whenever any of the animals in the savannah had a tricky question, they knew just who to ask. And Benny? He continued to explore, ask questions, and share his newfound knowledge with all his friends.
